What we need to start
Not everything needs to be ready at first contact; whatever is missing we simply record as an open item and continue with what is available.

From the field
On a private house project, three contractors returned quantity lists that differed by nearly a third on cabling alone. Comparing each against the drawings, we found one had omitted the lighting circuits on the lower floor and another had counted a distribution board twice. Once the lists were aligned to the same scope, the real price difference between the bidders became clear.
